InnoPath Press Release

InnoPath and McAfee® to Develop Anti-Virus Solution for Mobile Handsets Using Intel ® Wireless Trusted Platform

Companies will Demonstrate Technology at CTIA Wireless 2005 that Aims to Protect Operators, Enterprises, and Consumers from Future Mobile Threats

CTIA Wireless 2005, New Orleans, LA —March 14, 2005—InnoPath Software, Inc. (formerly DoOnGo), the industry leader in over-the-air (OTA) mobile device management, today announced an anti-virus solution to protect against virus threats to mobile handsets, developed in collaboration with Intel Corporation and McAfee Inc. This technology will be demonstrated on an Intel XScale® technology-based mobile platform utilizing a mobile virus protection and firmware update management system. This platform utilizes Intel’s Wireless Trusted Platform, which combines both hardware and software aspects to provide more security for mobile handsets. The demonstration is a result of technology collaboration between InnoPath, McAfee, and Intel and will show how mobile operators can detect, recover from, and update handsets to reduce security threats to mobile phone software.

This solution is designed to help protect against threats such as: viruses, worms, spyware, adware and other potentially unwanted programs. These potential threats are expanding from desktops to handsets and will be a major challenge to the cellular industry.

InnoPath’s market leading OTA technology will ensure that mobile phones remain in compliance with the latest firmware and anti-virus software and parameter configurations. Collaborating with Intel and McAfee, InnoPath’s OTA technology will utilize the Intel® Wireless Trusted Platform, and McAfee’s award-winning VirusScan technology. This solution could provide a robust set of services to assist in repairing the system, removing malicious applications, and protecting important data, keys, and files on the system.

“As the potential for handset viruses increases, anti-virus solutions such as this will be important security features for multimedia handsets and networks,” said Robert Hasbun, Director, Security and Manageability Office, Intel Cellular and Handheld Group. “Combining InnoPath’s and McAfee’s expertise in OTA update technology and virus protection with the Intel Wireless Trusted Module hardware provides enhanced protection for mobile users from malicious attacks.”

While the digital device network thus far has not been a target of virus writers, the recent discovery of proof-of-concept worms like “Brador” and “Cabir” demonstrate the need for security solutions specifically designed to help protect consumers from future harmful mobile viruses. This collaboration will allow McAfee, InnoPath and Intel to develop solutions for mobile handsets that could protect all consumers – both PC and wireless users – from security threats.

“Working together with Intel, and McAfee we aim to provide a solution to protect both consumer and enterprise users from potential malicious applications and viral threats brought on by the growth of wireless and mobile communication platforms.” said Luosheng Peng, CEO, chairman, and co-founder of InnoPath Software. “This demonstrates yet another benefit for handset manufacturers and wireless operators that OTA can be used for not only firmware upgrades, but also delivery of anti-virus software protection solutions.”

To see a demonstration of this joint solution at CTIA Wireless 2005, March 14-16, Ernest N. memorial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA, visit Intel at booth 5831, Hall F. For more information about InnoPath's OTA technology, device management solutions, visit booth 4916 in Hall F.
