San Jose, CA; USA, November
5, 2003 - DoOnGo
Technologies, Inc., the market
leader in mobile device software
management and over-the-air (OTA)
application provisioning, announced
today that they have been working
with NEC for the last two years
and Sharp and Panasonic Mobile
Communications for more than
one year to ensure the successful
launch of NTT DoCoMo, Inc.'s
new service. NEC and Sharp already
released the first commercialized
handsets with OTA capabilities
in October 2003.
"DoOnGo's primary focus has been
on supporting our customers and
making their handsets successful
in order to maintain DoCoMo's high
standards for reliability," said
Luosheng Peng, CEO & Co-Founder
of DoOnGo Technologies. "We are
extremely proud to be a part of
the world's first OTA launch and
will do everything possible to
make this a success for leading
handset vendors."
Two years ago DoOnGo engaged with
Japan's leading handset vendors,
to provide DeltaRewrite, a cable
based point-of-service and portal
rewrite system that was available
in NTT DoCoMo shops. This system
proved its value and represented
the critical first step in bringing
an OTA system to market. NEC became
a DeltaRewrite licensee in 2001
and Sharp and Panasonic Mobile
Communications licensed DeltaRewrite
in 2002. According to an article
published in Nihon Keizai Shinbun
on October 23, 2003 during a six-month
period from 4/1/03 to 9/1/03, NEC,
Panasonic Mobile Communications,
and Sharp had a share of 23.7%,
16.7%, and 10.7%, respectively
in the overall Japan market.
"We first engaged with DoOnGo
in the development of DeltaRewrite
for embedded software rewrite using
the differential update technology
that was released in the Spring
of 2002. DoOnGo's software core
technology proved its worth and
allowed us to seamlessly move the
software update technology from
a point-of-service system to an
OTA environment," said Mr. Koji
Maeda, Senior Manager, Mobile Terminals
Software Development Division,
NEC Corporation. "We are now proud
to announce our latest OTA capable
handset model for DoCoMo's mova
N252i."
"We started to engage with DoOnGo
in the development of our mova
handset that was released in 2002.
DoOnGo's good customer care and
support allowed Sharp to bring
this first product to market on
time," said Mr. Yoshiro Nakano,
Department General Manager, Software
Development Department, Personal
Communication Systems Division
I, Communication Systems Group,
Sharp Corporation. "The use of
DoOnGo's DeltaUpgrade software
has allowed us to transition to
an OTA update capability. We are
now proud to announce our latest
OTA capable handset model for DoCoMo's
mova SH252i."
